  Do lenses designed to be made of PMMA work if made of polycarbonate and vice versa?
  
  A
  
  Difference in the refractive indexes of PMMA and polycarbonate may cause the light pattern to change. The optical performance of lenses made of alternative materials should be simulated and evaluated case by case. For more information please contact tech support

  Can an injection mold designed for PMMA or polycarbonate be used for silicone and vice versa?
  
  A
  
  No. The equipment and processes for manufacturing silicone lenses are very different from those used for thermoplastics.

  Can LEDiL standard optics be modified to meet customer specific requirements?
  
  A
  
  In general, yes. Finding a cost effective solution requires knowledge of both the product and tooling. Any modifications should be made in close cooperation with LEDiL R&D. Please contact your local LEDiL sales agent or tech support for more information.

  How do I avoid cracks in LEDiL products?
  
  A
  
  Please ensure that chemicals are compatible with the material and don’t outgas any volatile organic compounds.

  Why does a lens, reflector or base part deform or melt?
  
  A
  
  Thermal management may not be sufficient or the parts aren’t clean enough and there is absorption in the high radiant flux area. Please follow the material’s maximum recommended service temperature.

  How can I prevent the lens cracking around the screw tower?
  
  A
  
  Please ensure that your heat sink screw holes are within tolerances and assembly has been carried out according to the instructions. Also check that screw specifications are in line with our recommendations in the Installation Guide page 24.

  I noticed this product is tagged EOL (End of Life). Will there be a replacement as we are designing a new product based on this item.

  As part of our continuous improvement process we discontinue certain products. We therefore advise against using discontinued products in future designs.
