Downlights have traditionally been round. From the ceiling cutout to the optic itself, circular designs have long been the industry standard. But as luminaire design becomes increasingly architectural, manufacturers are looking for optical solutions that better complement square and rectangular fixture designs.
While a square lens can be paired with a round luminaire, and vice versa, to create a distinctive design statement, we believe that matching the shape of the optics to the luminaire delivers the most natural and harmonius result.

Powered by LEDiL’s patented facet-surface technology, MIA combines striking aesthetics with excellent optical performance in a compact 50 mm square format. Its low-profile design and distinctive faceted architecture create a refined, premium appearance while enabling efficient light control and visual comfort. The unique surface geometry not only enhances the luminaire’s overall design language but also contributes to high-quality illumination, making MIA an ideal choice for projects where both performance and aesthetics are equally important.

The optic is also compatible with tunable white lighting solutions, enabling dynamic adjustment of colour temperature to support human-centric lighting strategies and create comfortable, adaptive environments. This flexibility makes MIA well suited for hospitality, retail, workplace, and other architectural spaces where lighting quality and ambience play a key role.
Flexible by design
MIA adapts seamlessly to a wide range of luminaire concepts and installation requirements. It can be used as a standalone optic or in clustered configurations, with or without holders, providing maximum flexibility and design freedom.
To simplify integration across different lighting platforms, MIA is available with two holder options compatible with a variety of industry-standard connectors from LEDiL and selected third-party manufacturers:
Holder C – Compatible with HEKLA sockets and connectors
Holder B – Compatible with Ø35 mm B+W and BJB connectors as well as SOCKET-B-35
The optic is optimised for LEDs with a 9.8 mm LES and supports LED packages with LES sizes up to 14.5 mm. This broad compatibility gives luminaire designers greater freedom in LED selection while enabling straightforward system integration.
