LEDiL fights counterfeits at L+B 2024

At LEDiL, our mission is to spread the word about the value of choosing innovation over imitation and to emphasize the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) enforcement.

During the Light + Building 2024 exhibition in Frankfurt, LEDiL effectively partnered with German customs authorities. This resulted in a joint operation leading to the raid of two exhibition booths displaying counterfeit products with infringing designs.

The Light + Building attracts industry leaders and innovators from around the globe. LEDiL and the customs officials identified and removed several products violating our patented technologies and designs. These products were prominently displayed, misleading potential customers about their origin and quality — a practice that not only deceives customers but also undermines the integrity of the lighting industry.

As an innovator and originator, LEDiL has been at the forefront of optical innovation, continuously introducing products that set high standards for efficiency and performance. Our commitment to excellence and our proactive stance against counterfeiting reflect our dedication to maintaining the trust and satisfaction of our customers and partners.

“Protecting our IPR is crucial not only for our business but for maintaining the trust of our customers and the integrity of the market,” said Mika Simonen, CSCO of LEDiL. “We are grateful for the swift action of the German customs authorities and their cooperation in upholding intellectual property rights during such a key industry event. Following the findings, we will proceed with additional legal actions, including the pursuit of criminal charges against the infringers in Germany.”

This incident pinpoints the ongoing challenges faced by industry leaders in combating intellectual property theft. It also highlights the effective collaboration between businesses and law enforcement agencies to safeguard the rights of innovators and creators. At LEDiL, we continue to advocate for stringent measures against counterfeiting, ensuring that the market remains fair and competitive for all participants.
